Biography of Ram Nath Kovind: Ram Nath Kovind was the 14th president of India. Ram Nath Kovind has served as the President of India from the year 2017 to 2022. He was the second person from the Dalit caste to hold the position in the office. He had a life full of challenges and hardships. He was born and brought up in the small village of Uttar Pradesh.

Ram Nath Kovind’s Hard Life

Ram Nath Kovind was born in a Dalit family during the British Raj. The mother's name is Kalawati, and his father's name is Maiku Lal. He was brought up in the village of Kanpur, a district of Uttar Pradesh. Ram Nath Kovind had completed his elementary school education. When he started junior school, it was a huge, challenging task for him as the school was located around 8 km away from his house. He needed to walk 8 km in order to attend junior school. Whereas in higher education, Ram Nath Kovind pursued a bachelor's degree in commerce and LLB from DAV College, which is affiliated with Kanpur University. He completed his advocacy in 1971 with the Bar Council of Delhi.

Family Of The Ram Nath Kovind

Ram Nath Kovind's mother, Kalawati, was a homemaker; she died of burns when the thatched dwelling caught fire. When Ram Nath Kovind was only about 5 years old. Ram Nath Kovind later donated the land to the community.

He has two sisters and four elder brothers, and he is the fifth one. He married Savita in 1974. They have two children, a son and a daughter. The name of the son is Prashant Kumar, and the daughter is Swati, who is an air hostess in Air India. His wife Savita is the first lady of Bihar who has served during the Ram Nath Kovind governorship. He wanted her career in the MTNL as a Telephone operator, but in 2005, she took voluntary retirement from the position.

Ram Nath Kovind’s Political Career

He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1991, which was the time when he started his political career. Has also served as the national spokesperson of the party. He has been a part of the various protests against certain orders from the central government that had an adverse effect on the SC and ST workers in 1997. Ram Nath Kovind was once a chairman of the Rajya Sabha house committee, and he has focused on education in the rural areas and held in the construction of various schools in Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand to improve the education system for children.

Ram Nath Kovind has served as the governor of the IIT Calcutta and board management of the Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Lucknow. He was appointed as the governor of Bihar in 2015. He has also praised him for being unbiased and working closely without the state government during his governmentship.

Awards To Ram Nath Kovind

In 2012, Ram Nath Kovind was awarded the Bhagwan Mahavir Foundation Award for his contribution towards the upliftment of the weaker section of society.

He won the outstanding parliamentarian award in 2017 for his dedicated services in the Rajya Sabha, where he represented the Uttar Pradesh state.

In 2019, he was honoured by Guinea with its highest award Because of his contribution to strengthening India's ties with African Nations, particularly Guinea. The award was given to him for fostering his commitment to improving the international relationship and diplomacy during his Presidency.
